Background to project

A Victorian terrace house that had been previously extended to provide a rear kitchen area. The client felt that the kitchen was too small, which is a common problem for properties of this period and design. Also the extension was not constructed particularly well in regard to its design or quality of work.  We therefore introduced the client to a suitable architect who worked with ourselves to realize the client’s requirement in regard to design and detail of the planned development. The architect dealt with the more formal aspect of the planning process, which was a permitted development application.

Once the project received approval, work commenced forthwith, and the project was built to our normal high standard. We introduced the client to one of our trade glazing suppliers, who produced an orangery style roof and bi-fold doors in a matching blue Ral colour to the clients taste. A hard paved terrace was also added close to door sill level to add a continuity of sight. A new kitchen was fitted in a position towards the centre of the house and not traditionally on the rear wall. This allowed space to be created for seating etc, close to the light and view gained by the Bi-fold doors. The newly created area was floored with rubber slat effect to the kitchen area and real oak timber in the family area.

Conclusion

There are extensions, and there are extensions built by NSP. Being involved in the project planning from the outset, we were able to take the clients ideas and turn them into reality, right down to the final details. Interestingly, another contractor commenced a similar sized extension to the next-door neighbours property at the same time. This allowed our client to compare all aspects of the construction process with another firm; noise, mess, quality of work were very apparent.  Needless to say our clients were pleased they had chosen Neil and his team, and at the end of the project Neil and Steven were kindly treated to a thank you meal by the client.

We are informed by the clients that visitors are openly wowed by the changes made, which endorses the position that it is well worth making that extra effort in design and a little more expenditure to create something special.

I would recommend NSP to other clients because:
