Project Design

From our initial contact NSP will work with you, providing guidance and advice to help you realise your aspirations.  We believe that how the space is used is just as important as the quality of the finish.  Our attention to detail and wide ranging experience means that every opportunity to maximize the development area is achieved. NSP marries the skills of our experienced trades people with the flair and precision of our architects, and where appreciated they work closely together to provide our clients with stunning and achievable results.  NSP also will help you through the process of creating  structural calculations as well as planning and building control applications, and also the legal requirement through recommended party wall surveyors.

 

Development and management

NSP offers a complete construction solution.  From project commencement, every aspect of the project is overseen by one of our managers who have at least 10 years experience in this sector, further support and communication is offered to all of our clients by way of direct contact with NSPc' s directors.  Our clients appreciate the transparency in regard to how their project is managed, and the consistency of the personnel visiting their home. Once the project is underway our clients are soon on first name terms with the team members undertaking their development.  This tried and tested management process means that we maintain unrivalled quality and attention to detail.  NSP also ensures that budgets are monitored and delivery is met within the required project duration.

2) We will then contact you to discuss your ideas and answer any initial questions you might have.

3) Once we have a brief overview of your requirements we will arrange for one our team to visit you,(usually the NSP directors) to meet you and view the property, and provide further assistance under no obligation.

4) If you wish to move forward with NSP then we will ask one of our bank of designers/architects  to contact you to start the drawing process, deal with planning and building control requirments, unless you have already had drawings produced of course.

5) Once an approved drawing is provided then we will present you with a quotation, we believe that providing information transparently is the best way to provide our clients with the likely contract expenditure, so we provide costs broken down into direct expenses to NSP's operation fees and contractor's profit.  Clients also can inspect our supplier quotations, so that they fully understand how we have arrived at the figure presented. 

6) On acceptance of the quotation we will produce a contract for signing by both parties.

Space created:

This recently completed extension in Ealing Common has not only improved the appearance of the rear of the property it has transformed the interior, and provided additional space for the kitchen and dining room. With two sets of bespoke made folding doors the customer has the opportunity to expand the space with an effect of bringing the real stone terrace inside. The dining room/conservatory also benefits from natural light provided by the glass roof, with the fitting of a fully automated roof vent system, the temperature is regulated with the minimum of energy consumption, even if you are out.

Background to project

Once we had recieved the well put together tender pitch from the client, we arranged a meeting to go over the project details with the client one evening.  Even though there were many merits with the design that their architect had drawn, it soon became apparent that the drawing from a building perspective had several discrepancies. We pointed this out to the client, who was impressed with our attention to detail even before the project had started, they said that no other contractor had spotted the problems.  We then with the clients agreement arranged for our architect to redraw some of the areas that required attention.  Due to us spotting these issues early, the project went very smoothly, and I think the pictures speak for themselves.

 

From the construction point of view, the project had two elements that had very little tolerance as they were manufactured out of glass.  We therefore worked closely with Designer Construction (glazing supplier) to make sure that their construction was tailored to fit the bi-fold doors and the glass roof precisely. We also had a cantilevered roof that was due to be weathered with lead, this meant that the roof would adjoin other materials. There can be an issue, especially around different metallic materials reacting negatively with each other, so we had to research an appropriate solution with Designer Construction.

Conclusion

As we were attentive preparing for the project, it allowed us to commence the build with no grey areas, this meant that the project ran smoothly on time and on budget.  This was the first time that we had worked with Designer Construction (one of the first firms to introduce bi-fold doors in the country), they were very impressed with our skill and precision. We therefore have fitted many more of their doors, and we are the only firm that they will recommend if asked by their clients, "do you know a good builder?".
